Buckinghamshire Council

On 1 April 2020 a new Council for Buckinghamshire (excluding Milton Keynes) will be formed under Local Government Reorganisation (LGR). The new ‘Buckinghamshire Council’ replaces the previously separate Aylesbury Vale, Chiltern, South Bucks and Wycombe District Councils and Buckinghamshire County Council.

Government has agreed a period of up to 2 years to implement a new Housing Allocation Policy for the new Council. This means there is no change at this time to how applicants apply for social housing or the criteria that needs to be met to decide a local connection. Applications for social housing will therefore be considered under the separate district geographical boundaries that are present now.

You do not need to do anything with regards to your current application, unless your circumstances have changed.

Welcome to Bucks Home Choice

Bucks Home Choice is the scheme that was introduced in partnership by Aylesbury Vale, Chiltern, South Bucks and Wycombe District, together with the Vale of Aylesbury Housing Trust to allocate social housing within Buckinghamshire.

The scheme advertises social rented properties and aims to give more choice about where you live and when you move. There is a severe shortage of housing in the area and therefore you will need to consider all other housing options available to you.
All applicants are assessed according to their eligibility to join the housing register and then the level of their housing need. If accepted on to the housing register applicants are then awarded a priority band which will be confirmed to applicants in writing.

Once you have received your assessment you can see which properties you are eligible to bid for. This can be done by logging in with a valid email address and date of birth. You decide which properties you would like to be considered for and you will be able to place a bid on up to 3 properties in each advertising cycle. The properties will be let to the person in the highest band with the earliest priority date.
